Assistant Treasurer Nominees for 2025-2026
Steve Minear
As an academic physician leader and critical care anesthesiologist, I work both in the ICU and OR, collaborating with residents, CRNAs, and AAs. As the Director of Research for my program, I lead studies and industry collaborations focused on perioperative outcomes and AI-integrated systems. Additionally, chairing the hospital compliance committee has given me valuable insight into the medicolegal landscape from both hospital administration and physician advocacy perspectives.
I am honored to submit my candidacy for the FSA Assistant Treasurer position. Since joining FSA after moving to Florida in 2017, I’ve served continuously on the Board since 2019, beginning as East District Director. Currently, I chair the Critical Care Medicine Committee, which I reactivated in 2022, and actively participate in the Legislative Committee. On a broader level, I serve as an ASA Delegate from Florida and on the national Critical Care Committee. I also support the FMA as an alternative delegate, effectively bridging our specialty concerns up nationally and out to the House of Medicine.
Since 2019, I’ve regularly traveled yearly to both Tallahassee and Washington DC for advocacy efforts, developing a thorough understanding of lobbying processes and fundraising strategies. This experience has taught me that effective leadership centers on building relationships, remaining open to new opportunities, and maintaining passion—for safe patient care, physician-led anesthesia teams, and serving our communities and patients.
My track record of establishing successful programs at my hospital and strengthening FSA’s reputation and infrastructure demonstrates my ability to build effective teams. Importantly, I have the institutional support from my practice group to dedicate the necessary time to FSA leadership. I would bring this collaborative, passionate leadership approach to advance our mission during this pivotal time for our specialty.
