OPEN BOARD POSITIONS

We are pleased to announce that the self-nomination period has begun for open board positions on the 2025-2026 FSA Board of Directors. Serving on the FSA Board of Directors is great way to get more involved with your Society and the work we do in support of safe, physician-led anesthesia.

Submissions will be reviewed by the FSA Nominating Committee, who will prepare and submit the Nominating Slate for elections to take place during the 2025 FSA Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, June 8th beginning at 8:00am. The board positions currently open for 2025-2026 are listed below. Interested candidates may self-nominate for more than one position.

Assistant Treasurer – 1 year term, 2025-2026: The Assistant Treasurer assists the Treasurer on all duties of the Treasurer; learns about the financial and budgeting process of the Society and provides continuity of financial knowledge and leadership for the good of the Society. Asst. Treasurer assumes the role of Treasurer at the completion of his/her term and, over the course of the next 5 years, barring any unforeseen circumstances, will graduate through the officer ranks to become Society President.

District Directors – 5 open positions, 3 year terms, 2025-2028: There are three (3) District Directors in each of Florida’s five districts. Each director must be an Active voting member of the Society and shall practice in his or her elective district. District Directors are key participants in the FSA’s membership recruitment and renewal efforts. They are voting members of the FSA Board of Directors. Term is three (3) years with no term limit.

• District Director Central (1 position)
• District Director West (1 position)
• District Director North (1 position)
• District Director South  (1 position)

Florida Director to the ASA, 3 year term, 2025-2028 – Each ASA Component society elects a Director to the ASA. This position serves as a liaison between the FSA Board and the ASA. Duties include: serving on the ASA Board of Directors; submit an annual report to the ASA House of Delegates; report the actions of the ASA Board of Directors to the members of the FSA.

Florida Alternate Director to the ASA, 3 year term, 2025-2028 – the Florida Alternate Director to the ASA supports the Florida Director and steps in to perform the duties of the Director as needed.

ASA Delegates – 7 open positions, 3 year term, 2025-2028: Delegates to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) must be voting members of the Society; they attend the ASA Annual Meeting and whenever possible counsel with the officers and directors on all matters pending in the House of Delegates of the ASA in the interest of making certain any action is in accordance with the desires of the society. They are voting members of the FSA Board of Directors. Term is three (3) years with no term limit. Of the 5 available positions, four are district-specific – ASA Delegate 2 Central District, ASA Delegate 1 North District, ASA Delegate 4 East District, ASA Delegate 5 South District– and three are At-Large Delegate positions.

• ASA Delegate South District (1 position)
• ASA Delegate At Large (3 positions)

Alternate Delegate to the ASA – 18 open positions, 1 year term, 2025-2026
ASA Alternate Delegates attend Delegate meetings at the ASA Annual Meeting in the event that a delegate is unable to; they also serve as voting members of the FSA Board of Directors. Term is one (1) year with no term limit.

FMA Delegates – 3 open positions, 3 year term, 2025-2028
Delegates to the Florida Medical Association (FMA) represent the Society at the FMA Annual meeting. Nominees must be active members of the Florida Medical Association and available to attend the FMA Annual Meeting held in late July/ early August each year. They serve as voting members of the FSA Board of Directors. Term is three (3) year with no term limits.

Alternate Delegate to the FMA – 9 open positions, 1 year term, 2025-2026
FMA Alternate Delegates attend Delegate meetings at the ASA Annual Meeting in the event that a delegate is unable to; they also serve as voting members of the FSA Board of Directors. Term is one (1) year with no term limit.
